FUD version ???, +-24 December 2001

Since no one bothers to read formal change logs, I (root-oms) decided to play a trick on you and disguise the new forum version announcement as a meaningful message. If you are reading this, you've been fooled, MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA

So, without further ado, THE CHANGE LOG:

After months or empty promises and continued delays, the help system, now renamed to FAQ is finally available. So, no asking me silly question on how to add avatars to you nick, you ask I kill.

Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, Many, bugs have been killed mercilessly.

The form, which allows you to see unread messages have been significantly improved, I strongly suggestion you give it a spin. It'll probably make your life easier and make me feel better that people use it, after all countless hours were spent making it. USE IT DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!

The buddy list has 2 new privacy intruding features. 1st you can see if your buddy is logged it. So, you can fire him of that PM messages and then rightfully complain about him not replying ASAP. When that time of the year, when your buddy has a birthday comes around you'll have an indicator on the buddy list, so you'll never miss the chance to gloat about your buddy getting older & senile. You also avoid the embarrassing question of age from your female buddies, without female bodies* the forum would be boring.

If you come across a bug and survive the encounter, run to root (email me) quivering in fear and I'll go vanquish the darn bug. DEATH TO BUGS!!!

For those who still did not discover the wonders of private messaging, go there: http//www.mediaminer.org/forum/pmsg.php

  • now, thats not a spelling mistake! Grow a sense of humor you fool!

FUD version 0.8.1, +-18 December 2001

A new version of forum has been released today.

This version contains numerous bug fixes, which have creeped up along the way in various forum versions.

2 Very important features were added as well.

First, you can now use the forum, even if your cookies are disabled, as session support was integrated into the forum. When you are logging in you can also check an option to not use cookies. This is useful, if you're not using your home computer, because this way no cookies or information be left on the computer, which may allow someone to login in into your account.

Another option is the partial integration of the help system. Which you will undoubtedly notice as the message boxes that appear when you move your cursor over various options. Since this will probably get rather annoying after a while, I would very much like to hear from your as whether or not it is useful & worth the annoyance. Or maybe some option should be made available to allow you to disable such help.

Meanwhile, you'll probably need to suffer through this "help", at least until the next version is released.

FUD version 0.8, +-10 December 2001

After a few intense hours of bug fixing, when the new forum decided to show its displeasure with unusually high number of bugs, which appear to have been swept under the rug... errr... fixed, I'm (root-oms) happy to announce we are now running a new FUD Forum, version 0.8. Whew, that was a long run-on sentence, ignorance is bliss!

Now then, here is a list of exiting new features, which you probably ignore for the most part, but they are really useful, really, they are (use them or die!!!).

The major addition to the forum is the Private Messaging system. You can now send private messages to member(s) of the forum. So, no one will be able to see your cybersex, except me, cause I am god.

Commandment #1 rev 0.1A chapter Z Subsection F: Thou shalt procreate often to provide endless amusement to higher entities.

A number of speed improvements were added across commonly accessed pages to so pages should load a little bit faster now.

The spell checker was improved, so it recognizes the words a little better.

A whole lot of bugs were fixed along the way, however since this is a rather major release with many changes, you may notice some new bugs that I've accidentally introduced. So, if you see anything wrong, do report it to me, so I can fix it.

FUD version 0.7.7, +-26 November 2001

10000nd Posts! To celebrate this wondrous event, I (root-oms) have upgraded the forum to version 0.7.7 (they say 7 is a lucky number). This version includes mostly bug fixes and some rather impressive optimizations that should make the forum run faster to accommodate our growing popularity. We've also added a SINGLE but yet very important feature. You can now ignore users, by entering their name in the ignore list, which is located in your profile or clicking on the ignore link beside every post. You can now ignore messages by other people, including yourself (yes this is a feature, hackie has been claiming this to be such, PLEASE tell him he is a mor***, err I mean that he is wrong). The best part (IMHO) that you cannot ignore my messages, EVER MUWAHAHAHAAHA, so you'll have to read what I say.

FUD version 0.7.6, +-20 November 2001

A new forum 0.7.6 has been released, many bug fixes as well as few features. Here is the list of the new features that I (root-oms) can recall:

  • Buddy System, you can now add your buddies on the forum to this list. It does do anything else at the moment, but it will soon.
  • Tree view, this (IMHO) is a really cool feature, which allows you to see messages in a particular form as a tree, really comfortable on large threads. It is also faster then normal view, because only 1 message is shown @ the time.
  • Automatic word-wrapping for REALLY REALLY long words inside message bodies to prevent the body causing the page to scroll horizontally.
  • For all your "snoopers" it now shows the time of the person's last action.
  • Quite a number of small but annoying bugs and functionality problems were fixed.

FUD version 0.7.5, +-12 November 2001

Yet another new forum, more features, bug fixes etc...

  • Spell Checker.
  • You can now select and upload your avatars in your profile, but those will have to be first approved by the administrator before they're actually visible.
  • I spy (allows you to see what other people are doing).
  • Mark All Read, this tiny link is a nice time saver. It'll mark all your unread messages as read.
  • Performance improvements, the forum should be somewhat faster to use.
  • As usual many more bugs were fixed and some were possibly added.

FUD version 0.7.4

No info available.

FUD version 0.7.3, +-25 October 2001

It been only two days since the last release and we've already got the next version for ya 0.7.3. New Features Are:

  • You can whine to administrator about "controvercial" posts if they offend your delicate sensibilities. This way I can laugh at you.
  • You have the POWER to rate threads. You can now control the little stars that appear beside some threads (ratings are the average of all the votes). You get to feel like an Administrator just without any cool powers MUWAHAHAHAHAA
  • Now you can see who you refered to the forum. This was just added, so, no stats as of yet. The person who refers the most will get a cookie & a yearly hackie biting license.
  • As usual some bugs have been fixed, hopefuly more were fixed then added.
  • You can now see how many files you can upload per message, rather then getting TOO MANY FILES F00!!
  • A new klingon quote (read below)
  • You got a new option in your settings, 'Show Signatures' using this option you can choose to hide or show other people signatures. By default you will see people's signatures.

What is this talk of 'release'? Klingons do not make software 'releases.' Our software 'escapes' leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in its wake.

FUD version 0.7.2, +-23 October 2001

New forum was unleashed upon you MUWAHAHAHAHA...

Besides the many bug fixes here are the new features:

  • You can now attach multiple files to your messages.
  • There is a legend at the bottom of the screen explaining the meaning behind the weird folder & lightbulb icons.
  • Better read/unread handling for forums.
  • Password reminder now sends only 1 email instead of previous 2 (in this case 1 is better then 2).
  • Member list is actually sorted now Smile And you can also choose sorting order (registration date, # of posts or login name).
  • Some other features were added to, but I don't recall them right now, I'm sure you'll come across them @ some point, maybe...

As our Klingon staff member mentioned this prior to the release: "Our users will know fear and cower before our software. Ship it! Ship it and let them flee like the dogs they are!"
